Principal

Dear Highlands Families and Community,

My name is Karrie Haselton and I am honored to be a part of Highlands school community and of your child’s educational experience. 

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and highlight the district goals. I grew up in San Mateo and I attended schools within our district. I have been working in the district for over 20 years. 

This year our district and school will focus on the following goals: 

Goal 1: Create learning opportunities for ALL Pre K through 8th grade students resulting in closing the achievement gap and culminating in person and academic success in high school and beyond. 

Goal 2: Reduce inequitable outcomes for ALL students and staff by prioritizing equity, access and inclusion. 

Goal 3: Provide a safe, caring, nurturing and culturally responsive environment for ALL students to meet the needs of the whole child. 

I’m excited for the opportunity to be the Principal of Highlands and I look forward to meeting everyone.
